Prepare For The Future.
Kewcorp Financial offers an extensive 73 page Estate Planning Questionnaire to assist you with the preparation of a new Will, Personal Directive and Power of Attorney. We can provide you with the documentation required to execute this process, providing you have your own Solicitor who will assist you in finalizing the steps required. We also offer a complete package which includes complete documentation and consultation.
If you do not have a Will, it’s impossible for your survivors to know how to distribute your estate. To ensure that these decisions are in your hands, it is imperative that your wishes are clearly stated in your Will.
To die without a Will places an immeasurable liability on your family and loved ones. Without your wishes known, the court will assume administration of your estate and determine who receives your assets. The process may well be delayed due to questions and challenges. The decisions made by a court may not be compatible with what you would have chosen.
The Power of Attorney establishes who will make decisions for you should you become unable to determine choices for yourself. Your Personal Directive will include provisions for care in future circumstances and ensures your family and loved ones know your intentions.
We tend to avoid creating a Personal Directive as a guideline for our loved ones to follow should we be faced with illness or become incapacitated. These decisions deal with difficult and sensitive questions about our care and possibly end-of-life preparations.
Completing the Estate Planning Questionnaire may take some time and does not have to be completed in one sitting. Creating your Will, Power of Attorney and Personal Directive should not be rushed. Allow yourself time to contemplate your plans for the care of your estate, your well being and your final wishes.
You should complete the Questionnaire carefully and accurately. Thorough consideration will enable your Solicitor to create comprehensive legal documents on your behalf.
Kewcorp Financial Inc. has reviewed several “do-it-yourself legal will kits” and shares the opinions that overall the “kits” may be inadequate and may result in difficulties when families try to interpret unclear statements. Conflicts and court proceedings may end up costing the estate countless dollars and lead to serious and unresolved concerns. As a leading Canadian lawyer has noted, “What is not in here is more important than what is in here”.
